Krishnadas murder incident; JAC to intensify agitation

Kakching, June 29 2009: The JAC against the brutal killing of Yengkhom Krishnadas has decided to request the Geneva Convention to conduct judicial enquiry on the killing of Y Krishnadas.

This was decided during a public meeting convened by the JAC today at the Ebudhou Naohallai Lampak, Kakching Bazar.

Among others, the public meeting has also decided to carry out a mass rally on July 9 at Kakching in protest against the killing of Y Krishnadas and to demand fitting punishment against the culprits, to write to the Geneva Convention requesting extra-judicial enquiry, to launch poster campaign against the killing, and to pressurise the concerned authority for prompt of discussion of Krishnadas' killing in the coming State Assembly session slated for July 3 .

The public meeting was attended by ex-MLA Y Thambal, president of the JAC P Modhusudon, and retired teacher Y Dhananjoy as the presidium members.

The meeting was also attended by around 2000 people from Kakching and its adjoining areas including various UCM representatives and social workers.

Various speakers during the meeting expressed disappointment over the inability of the government in booking and punishing the culprits so far.

They also resolutely stated that the agitations will continue till justice is done on the issue.

Speaking on the occasion, the wife of (L) Y Krishnadas has also acknowledged the solidarity shown to her and her family members by the JAC, womenfolk and people in their fight for justice.
