Imphal, April 25 2009: Stating that N Surjit alias Loya (32) was killed by the police commando after being arrested from his aunt's house at Moirang Panshang Leikai on April 18 last, the proscribed PREPAK has strongly denied the police statement which said that Surjit, a suspected corporal of PREPAK, was killed in an encounter at Shadu Khoiro Ching in Loktak on April 23 with a combined force of Bishnupur police commando and 4/8 Gorkha Rifles.

A statement issued by PREPAK's Department of Information and Propaganda, Aheiba Angom asserted that Surjit was not killed in an encounter but he succumbed due to injuries inflicted with the brutal assault and torturing.

His dead body was then taken to a place and to stage an encounter, bullets were pumped into the body apart from placing some weapons near the dead body while charging that the police statement lacks moral and terming such kind of acts as 'terrorism'.

Disclosing that Surjit alias Loya was a former cadre of the outfit, the PREPAK statement clarifies that he had retired after he was arrested by security force and serving a jail term for a long period after going through legal trial.

It said that since he was released from jail, he has no relation with the outfit in any way.

Aheiba Angom also contended that Surjit, son of N Nipamacha of Hiyanglam was nabbed from his aunt W Ibemcha wife of Naba's residence at Moirang Panshang on April 18 last by four police commando in civvies accompanied by three uniformed personnel on the pretext of having a talk.

It further said that he was killed after the police commando failed to mine money on his arrest while also questioning the essence of the law that grants the police and the IOF to re-arrest and kill a person who had underwent trials under an established law.
