10 AR personnel killed, claims UNLF; 'Five weapons seized'

Imphal, November 23, 2009: The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) claimed having killed ten Assam Rifles personnel including two officers while also inflicting injuries to many others in two encounters in Dingpi area of Chandel district today.

It also claimed to have confiscated five weapons and various medicine items from the AR personnel.

A statement dispatched to the media houses here today by the senior publicity officer of the UNLF, Ksh Yoiheiba informed that the first encounter incident took place today around 9am when a team of the 293 Bn of MPA laid an ambush on an AR's Gypsy which was coming to drop medicines to the AR post located at Old Somtal village in Dingpi area.

All five occupants of the vehicle including an officer were killed in the ambush.

The MPA cadres seized five weapons including two AK Rifles, two INSAS Rifles and one folding Carbine along with several items of the medicines, Yoiheiba claimed.

The second incident took place around 12 pm when a fighting patrol team of the MPA waylaid the reinforcement team of the security forces who come to collect the dead bodies of the personnel in the first incident.
