This statement of the officer came after two bombs were exploded by militants last night around 11 at the residence of the Deputy Director of Agriculture (Soil Chemist), Ph Rajendro at Kongpal in Imphal East district under Porompat police station, for the sixth time allegedly against the failure of the fulfilment of monetary demands.

Regarding last night's attack, the Deputy Director suspected that the incident could have been carried out in relation to the demand of Rs 3 crore made by a militant group of which name he did not want to disclose.

One of the grenades exploded in the front courtyard and some shrapnels hit the windows of the neighbouring house causing some damages.

The other one exploded at the gate of the house.

Meanwhile, locals of the Kongpal area where the Deputy Director hails from staged a sit-in protest decrying the repeated attacks with bombs which not only caused panic to the family but also to the neighbourhood.

Around 200 people participated in the protest which commenced from around 10 am and went on till 4 pm.
