Imphal, June 06 2009: The IRB man arrested in connection with the professor Md Islamuddin murder case has been detained under National Security Act (NSA) by an order of the Imphal west district magistrate, A Ibomcha issued today.

The 30-year old rifleman of the 3rd IRB, Kangjam Dimjit (rifleman no.132001226) son of Tomba of Haobam Marak Kangjam Leikai, mention may be made here was taken into judicial custody by the Singjamei police station where an FIR case was registered in connection with the killing of the professor inside the MU campus on May 25.He was taken into the judicial custody by the police for further interrogation on his role in the sensitive case of murder of the professor on May 31 after producing him before the duty magistrate, Impha west for seven days.

Today, with the expiry of the seven day period of judicial remand, he was produced in the court od the additional chief judicial magistrate, RK Memcha with prayer for further remand by the police.

The court ordered further remand of 15 days.

In the meantime, he was detained under NSA by an order of the Imphal west district magistrate today.
