Imphal, July 05 2009: A farmer in Ukhrul district has been shot dead by a gunman to which the family members of the victim alleged that the accused is an NSCN-IM cadre.

A gunman shot at AS Yarthotngam (30), a farmer of Hundung in Ukhrul district yesterday afternoon causing him grievous injuries, police said.

The accused came with a gun and shot at Yarthotngam when the victim was enjoying a party along with three other friends at a house at Hundung.

Though Yarthotngam was rushed to Imphal and admitted at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Family members of Yarthotngam alleged that the attacker was a cadre of the NSCN-IM.
