Imphal, October 25 2009: In protest against the brutal murder of retired Dr Huidrom Binodkumar, doctors, nurses and staff of RIMS and JN Hospital have decided to stage a protest demonstration by closing OPD and OT on October 28 .

Speaking to media persons at IMA office this afternoon, IMA Manipur state branch secretary Dr A Vivekananda said that a general body meeting of the IMA Manipur State branch held on October 24, strongly condemned the brutal murder of Dr Binodkumar.

Further, a decision was also taken to stage a protest demonstration by closing OPDs and OTs of both RIMS and JN Hospital on October 28 .

Saying that relevant authorities of the two hospitals have been intimated about the scheduled protest demonstration, Dr Vivekananda said that emergency services of district hospitals, PHCs, CHCs, private clinics, hospitals and pathological laboratories would be suspended for the day.

Medical students, nursing students, PG doctors and house officers would also stage a sit-in-protest wearing black badges in front of the Directorate of Health Services on the same day.

The meeting also resolved to send media reports about the brutal murder of Dr Binodkumar to IMA national headquarters at Delhi in addition to submission of memorandum to the Chief Minister, the Governor and the DGP urging them to book the culprits and punish them according to law, Dr Vivekananda said.

Notably the JAC constituted against the killing of Dr Binodkumar has already set a deadline of 48 hours counting from today for the Government to book the culprits.
