Imphal, April 18 2009: Reacting to the press statement of AR PRO Lt Col PK Wankhade published on April 16 which not only rubbished UNLF's claim of inflicting heavy casualty on AR troops during a gun-fight at two places but also countered with the assertion that MPA cadres suffered big casualty, the proscribed outfit alleged that the PRO's statement was only exposing habit of telling falsehoods.

A statement issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba further contradicted the PRO claiming that the outfit is in control of several large base areas within the territory of Manipur.

Not only that, the MPA has been able to strike at security forces operating from these bases.

Maintaining that 14 AR personnel were killed and ten others injured in two incidents of attacks undertaken by MPA in Ukhrul district, it asserted that the alleged false statement of the PRO showed their (security forces) wounded pride.

There was no casualty on the side of the MPA cadres, the outfit asserted while challenging that the veracity of the statement may be checked with the help of media persons.

Even as the PRO tried to minimise the heavy casualty the security forces suffered in the hands of the MPA in view of the people, the number of corpses and injured personnel airlifted by helicopter could not be concealed.

According to the statement of the PRO, only personnel was killed while six others including a JCO sustained injuries, the outfit quoted.

Thinking that the people of Manipur may take UNLF/MPA as a mighty force in case they come to know the exact figure of casualty suffered by security forces, the dead and injured personnel were taken straight to Kolkata rather than to Leimakhong garrison which has been the case normally, the outfit alleged.

Claiming that security personnel posted at Singhat, Sajik Tampak, Khengjoy Range and Kasom are worried over possible attacks by MPA, it asserted that there have been many cases of security personnel committing suicide as their spirit became too low out of dread.

Referring to the ongoing Operation Summer Storm, the UNLF alleged that the operation is more oriented towards exterminating the rare Sangai (Brow Antlered Deer) species.

Accusing security forces of burning Sangai habitat extensively on the pretext of searching UG cadres, the outfit questioned whether the individuals killed in the course of the operation were real insurgents or innocent fishermen looking for their daily bread.

Security forces of the Govt of India are notorious for violating international laws and 'rules of war', it alleged while accusing security forces of dressing up slain innocent persons in combat fatigue to claim that insurgents have been killed.

Forcing innocent villagers to row boats ahead of security forces in the form of a human shield is another example of the security forces violating the international rules of war, it alleged.

Disclosing that MPA has no camp in Loktak lake at present, the outfit claimed that security forces would not be able to do anything against them even if MPA cadres were in the Loktak lake.

For killing the rare Sangai and destroying the environment and ecology of Loktak lake, the MPA would take revenge on security forces in tandem with intensifying the liberation movement, declared the outfit.
