Allow the vehicles to pass through, appeals CM

Imphal, September 15: Chief Minister O Ibobi has appealed to the United Committee Manipur to lift the boycott of NH-39 and allow the vehicles to pass through this highway to transport the much needed essential items.

Moreover, a number of vehicles from Manipur are stranded outside the State due to the boycott of the highway, said the CM.

UCM imposed the boycott on NH-39 following the Piphema outrage in the early hours of September 5.Appealing for the revocation of the boycott, the CM in a message said that the Centre has been asked to take up necessary steps so that Piphema incident is not repeated.

Outlining the steps taken up by the State Government following the Piphema incident, the Chief Minister said that the Nagaland Chief Minister has been pressurized to take up action and most of the culprits involved in the incident have been arrested.

A delegation from the State will also be deputed to Delhi to put pressure on the Centre to ensure that such ugly incidents do not occur again, said the Chief Minister.
