Naobi protest reaches Delhi

Imphal, March 11: Expressing solidarity to the people of Manipur who are crying for justice, a large number of people belonging to different walks of life today descended at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and staged sit-in-protest demanding punishment of the police commandos involved in illegal detention and torture of Maibam Naobi Chanu, termination of Thoubal CJM Mrs Kim from service and resignation of CM O Ibobi.

The protest demonstration organised under the aegis of Manipur Students' Association, Delhi was participated by representatives of various organisations like Communist Ghadar Party of India, All India Students' Association, Revolutionary Democratic Front, Yuva Bharat, North East Students' Joint Action Committee, Forum for Democratic Initiatives, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, etc.

The protestors also gave a clarion call to fight for human rights and dignity and resist savagery of the State sponsored terrorism in Manipur.

Back home, Wakat Meephams lingered at different parts of the State today denouncing alleged attempt being made by the SPF Government to shield the guilty police commandos and baying for heads of the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers as well as the CJM for failing to deliver justice to the innocent girl whose feminine chastity had been violated.

Wakat Meephams were held at Khumbong Bazar, Iroisemba, Lamshang, Nagamapal, Koirengei, Keishamthong Top Leirak Machin etc in Imphal West district; at Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Khurai, Yairipok Bazar, Porompat, Wangkhei Yonglan Ayangpalli Leima Keithel, Thawanthaba Leikai, Pukhao Liklithong, etc in Imphal East district and in Senapati district protest were held at Kanglatongbi, Motbung, Sapermeina and at Sugnu Bazar.
