Imphal, February 10 2010: Commenting on the media report that one shoot-out victim has turned out to be a surrenderee as published on February 10 issue, the proscribed UNLF alleged that the victim was shot dead in cold blood as he had run out of utility to security forces.

A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba asserted there can be no denying that the victim, Ningombam Boynao alias Jiten s/o N Thoiba of Thoubal Ningombam was a surrenderee attached to the Yairipok post of 34 Assam Rifles.

Many individuals who deserted revolutionary groups for lack of moral courage, unable to uphold revolutionary principles are being accommodated in different AR posts located across the State.

These individuals of dubious character are being used by security forces in several criminal activities, it alleged.

These deserters/surrenderees are being forced to indulge in murders and extortion in the name of revolutionary groups.

At times, when people get wind of the presence of security forces' hand in such criminal activities, they force the deserters/surrenderees to claim responsibility for the criminal act by taking the name of one underground group or another.

Alleging that many such gangs and individuals with dubious character are being bred in many AR posts, the outfit said these individuals controlled by security forces were used in triggering bombs in public places and harassing common people and family members of UG cadres.

These individuals are shot dead in stage-managed encounters at the first instance of defiance or when the security forces think their utilities have run out even if they are loyal till the moment, the outfit asserted.

Then the PRO of security forces would come out with high-pitched propaganda that the killing was one of the many successful counter insurgency operations.

In the meantime, the security forces have been blaming UG groups for the anti-social activities done by them with an ulterior motive to project the revolutionary movement to the people in the wrong light, it alleged.
