Imphal, January 27 2009: STATE FORCES today killed at least three suspected undergrounds in different parts of the state and recovered arms and ammunitions, official said.

A suspected UNLF cadre was gunned down by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos in a joint operation with the troops of the 21 Assam Rifles at Khunyai village under Kakching police station of Thoubal district early Tuesday at around 5.45 pm, police said.

A hand grenade was recovered from the slain suspect, police source said adding, he was killed during an encounter with the combined force.

Another suspected insurgent was also killed by the Thoubal police commandos at Ngariyan hills under Yairipok police station this evening at around 4.45 pm and recovered a .45 pistol from the possession of the slain suspect.

Meanwhile, Imphal west police commandos gunned down another suspected underground activist at Chongdam Konna under Wangoi police station at around 4.30 pm.

The commandos seized a 9mm pistol along with some rounds of live ammunitions from the slain suspect, the police source added.
