Imphal, December 26 2008: FORMER CHAIRPERSON of Manipur Human Rights Commission, Justice WA Shishak has averred that its easier to kill humans than rats in Manipur.

We cant kill rats, the rats escape.

But its easy to kill humans.

So many humans are getting killed daily in Manipur, Justice Shishak said expressing extreme unhappiness and disappointment over the relentless killings of so many youths said to be insurgents in the so-called encounters that occur almost daily.

The former Chief Justice of Chhatisgarh High Court, Justice WA Shishak was speaking at a grand function to mark the Christmas celebrations, the birth of the Prince of Peace at the MBC Centre Church at Chingmeirong here yesterday.

Giving special Christmas message, Justice Shishak said, theres no love, peace and integrity in Manipur.

Its only in the mouth.

There is too much hypocrisy and there are too many pretenders in the state, he said.

Just by saying and appealing for love, peace and co-existence, how can there be all these without sincerity and integrity in ones character, he asked.

There are reasons for the people of Manipur to cry, but theres no reason to laugh and to be happy, Justice Shishak rued.

Money is be all and end all.

Weve fallen in love with money.

Money is everything, he said.

Emphasising that Weve failed to uphold the rule of law, the unstoppable retired Justice further cried that We want a government that would work for the welfare of the people, we dont care whose government whether Congress or whichever party. We want people of integrity in Manipur, he said and added, Gandhi followed the principles of Jesus Christ more than any Christian. In the absence of integrity and sincerity, there cant be love and peace.

If we do not treat the poor and the needy properly, there cant be peace, he said.

Justice Shishak said, he wanted to say all that since people who mattered in Manipur were all there at the congregation.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi was present as the chief guest of the function and Rajya Shaba MP Rishang Keishing presided.

Loksabha MP Dr T Meinya, Tribal Development, District Council and Hill, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister DD Thaisii, MPCC President Gaikhangam, MLAs W Brajabidhu and Dr Ng Bijoy, former Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Director of Manipur Police Wireless Service Raichandra, Commissioner, FCS, Budhachandra and many other officials were present.

Deputy GOC of 57 Mtn Division and his wife also attended.

The vast hall of the Church was packed with Christians and invitees of other faith and communities.

Media persons were also present.

Justice Shishaks attack was obviously targetted at Chief Minister O Ibobi and other VIPs who listened silently and found it hard to hide their embarrassment.

He also made a dig at people who called themselves Christians but did not follow a bit of Christian doctrines and who, instead, indulged in all kinds of evil things.

He also ridiculed all those who talked about love, peace and integrity saying that it was only words without being translated into action.

The Christmas celebration was organised by MBC Centre Church.
