Abducted man killed in 'encounter' with AR

Imphal, October 25 2009: A former underground now leading a normal life, having a daughter of age around one year, abducted by a group of unknown armed miscreants, killed by troops of Assam Rifles last night at about 11.50 pm near Chiru village located two kilometer away on the east of Irilbung police station of Imphal east district.

The man killed by the Imphal east police commandos last night at Langdum Mayai Leikai under Irilbung police station of Imphal East has also been identified today.

He was said to be a timber trader, according to the family.

The slain man identified as Khundrakpam Naotombi (26) son of Kh Tomba of Ningthkhul Mamang Leikai was abducted by some armed miscreants who fired some rounds of guns last night from his home.

He was former PLA and in jail for sometime after arrested.

He led a normal life since then and had a daughter of around one year old, according to the family source.

Reports said that troops of 28 Assam Rifles killed him and recovered a .32 pistol loaded with three live rounds, three empty cases along with one extra magazine.

Three live rounds of AK-47 rifles, six empty cases of the arm also recovered from the spot where the dead body was recovered.

Four armed men in civil dress who came into the house called out him on the pretext of having a talk on curtained.

When family members gave obstruction to take away him, the miscreants warned them to fire at them if follow them, family members who came up to the RIMS morgue stated.

They added, the miscreants, before leaving the house also fired seven to eight rounds of guns in the air at front courtyard of the house.They also fired some rounds of guns in the air when womenfolk of the village followed them.

Villagers also showed the miscreant with Naotombi taking the route to Andro hill, the family said.

While his whereabouts remained untraced, his wife Sonia contacted to the mobile phone which was with her husband, an unknown receiver told her to go to RIMS morgue if they wanted to meet him.

When the family member rushed to the RIMS morgue, the dead body of Naotombi was found lying at the morgue.

After postmortem, family has taken the dead body for performing his last rites.

On the other hand, the identity of the man killed by the Imphal east police commandos last night at Langdum Lamkhai under Irilbung police station has also been identified today as Asho Tangkhul (28) son of late Thinglen of Kharan village of Senapati presently residing at Langol Tarung village.

According to the family, he was a business man dealing with timber trade.

The dead body has been taken by the family after postmortem at RIMS morgue today.
