Imphal, October 24 2009: Identity of one of the two suspects killed in an alleged encounter by the Imphal West district police commandos last night at Kameng Yengoubung in Imphal West district has been established today.

Family has claimed that the slain man was innocent and not related with any underground group.

Family members identified the slain man as Khundrakpam Priyobarta @ Ibungo (45), son of Kh Babu of Thanga Lawai Sabal Leikai.

Earlier, he stayed at Uripok Achom Leikai but recently shifted to a quarter at Lamphel Police Housing around two months back.

Family members said that Priyobarta was dealing with trading of lucky stone.

He was not related with any underground groups.

He went out yesterday evening at about 6 pm from home with a Yamaha motorcycle (MNE-1709) .

He forgot to carry the registration book while going out from home.

Family came to know one of the two slain persons was Priyobarta when visited RIMS morgue today.

They went there when media reported recovery of the motorcycle belonging to Priyobarta by the police in the reported encounter.

After postmortem at RIMS morgue, the dead body has been taken by the family for performing his last rites.

The identity of the other slain together with Priyobarta in the alleged encounter is yet to be established.
