Imphal, January 22 2009: The identity of three persons who were killed by the security forces in separate incident of encounters yesterday have been identified today.

The alleged PULF cadre who was shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and personnel of 39 Assam Rifles at Heingang Awang Leikai yesterday afternoon has turned out to a Rifleman of 4 IRB attached with 8 MR identified as Md Islamuddin alias Ibomcha (25) s/o Md Nur Rahaman of Sangaiyumpham Part-II.

Family members claimed that Islamuddin had been picked up by the commandos from the house.

The body has been handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.

On the other hand, the two suspected KYKL cadres who were shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and personnel of 16 Assam Rifles along the road connecting Kanglatongbi and Makhan have been identified as Ningthoujam Ananda (32) s/o late Angou of Moirangkampu Sajeb and Palungbam Kunjabihari alias Bose (35) s/o late Pishak of Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai.

Claiming that both of them were innocent contractors, the family members have refused to take the bodies.
