Chennai, February 16, 2010: Claiming that the UG suspect killed in a reported encounter with troops of 29 AR at Laipham area of Chandel district last morning was its cadre, the proscribed UNLF has contended that its cadre was killed in cold blood.

A press release issued by the outfits senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said that MPA cadre Salam Yenning alias Amujao s/o S Ibocha of Keibul Lamjao Mayai Leikai was travelling from Moreh to Imphal for medical treatment before he was pulled down by 29 AR Tengnoupal check-post.

As he was suffering from malaria for a prolonged period, Yenning was physically very weak when he was apprehended.

His condition was such that he could not even walk, leave aside carrying weapons.

Though Yenning was very much sick, he was subjected to severe torture and finally shot dead in an isolated area in Laipham at about 6 am yesterday, the outfit alleged.

Even in conventional wars, passage for sick, injured and dead soldiers is given.

But Assam Rifles have been claiming success by killing sick, unarmed people in cold blood, it alleged.

Earlier too, there were many instances where many innocent people travelling to Moreh for trade purposes were killed by Assam Rifles in fake encounters which were exposed by the unfit camouflage dresses they put on to their innocent victims, it added.
