Two of six killed appear to be innocent

Imphal, September 11, 2009: It has been clear that out of six killed by security forces in what said to be in gun clash at Awang Khunou on the night of September 8 were civilians even though there were no official declaration on the matter from the authority concerned.

Out of the two slain men who can be said as civilians is a non-local and the dead body is still lying at RIMS morgue without knowing his identity.

Some people who turned up to the RIMS morgue today said that the non-local was among them who came out from Moreh on that day before he was killed.

While, the other one who according to Hueiyen Lanpao finding can be concluded as civilian is Md Mujibur Raheman (38) son of Ahmad Ali of Loktak Project presently residing at a rented house at Hatta Golapati.

Reports collected from various sources said that the six people were killed into separate incidents even though the place of occurrence was same.

The case of killing of two motorcyclists is different with that of killing of four persons said to be coming on the Tata Sumo.

On the other hand with regard to the incident, on received of a complaint from the wife of slain Akoijam Oken of Langol Game village, Patsoi police called up two persons and interrogated on the incident today.

The two persons interrogated by the police were Laishangthem Joy of Konthoujam Makha Leikai and son of his sister Yurenjam Dhamen (33).In the complaint note of wife of Oken, it was mentioned that slain Md Tomba and Dhamen had called out her husband from the house.

Oken also before leaving home introduced Dhamen as son of Joy's sister but Dhamen refused that he was not the person who accompanied Tomba when police interrogated.

He also stated that he is not link with the incident.

A reliable source said that Rickshaw puller Tomba was a driver sometime back.

He was well known to Oken so also to his wife.

Joy is related with Oken case as he bought a Tata Sumo from Joy.

A controversy erupted at the time of buying and sailing of the vehicle.

The vehicle involved in the ill-fated incident (MN01K-7003) was driven by slain Md Rehman and coming back from Moreh on that fateful day along with the non-local.

On that day after offloading all the passenger, the vehicle reported at his house with six tag of rice, Joy said adding that as he did not want to sent out the driver alone with the non-local who came on the Tata Sumo, they, three together came back on the vehicle at about 9.40 pm.

When, they arrived at his house, three men coming on an Auto-rickshaw were found waiting them at gate.

One of the men stopped the vehicle with a armed and ordered them to lay on the ground.

After lying down on the ground, the unknown man asked whether he Joy, he told the police and initiated talk on the matter of buying and selling of the vehicle which he told them that the matter has been settled with a written agreement at City police.

But he insisted that the money should be paid back at once.

After then, the unknown armed man said that they will take away the vehicle and ordered the driver to take out the key and drive the vehicle as they directed which they together entered to his house, Joy said.

At that time he came to know that Oken was among the three unknown persons.

Joy along with his wife and children strongly opposed to take away the vehicle.

But all in vain, they take away the vehicle.

They also forced to drive the driver, Rehman to drive the vehicle while Oken attempted to drive the other Sumo Vehicle parked at the gate.

But, later on the insistence of the armed man, Oken left one of the vehicles and asked Joy to clear the amount to be paid to Oken within five day and fired one round of gun before leaving the place.

Later, Oken along with Md tomba, non-local, Sumo driver Md Rehman and the other one who imitate Dhamen left the place, Joy clarifying that he and his family not related with the incident at any way.

However, police detained him till late this evening for further interrogation into the incident.

Police further observed blood stain on the ground at spot of occurrence which apparently escaping an injure man in the bus which can be concluded the man who imitated Dhamen being escaped from the scene, police observed.
