Imphal, February 11 2009: Threatening to take up stern forms of agitation and serving the deadline as February 14 for the government of Manipur to address its demand over the killing of Letkhongam Khongsai (37) last month at Khurkhul Makha Leikai in Imphal West under Sekmai Police station, the Joint action Committee (JAC) formed by Kangpokpi Urban Town Committee (KUTC), Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU), Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) of Sardar Hills, has expressed its anger the way the state government has been handling the case.

Letkhongam Khongsai's lifeless body was found at Khurkhul Makha Leikei covered with a woman's clothing on January 11 after the victim had left Leimakhong to visit his relatives the previous day.

Following the incident an FIR was registeredNo.3 (1)09 Sekmai P/S u/s 146,148302 IPC 11-1-09 registered to the Sekmai Police Station.

"But no effective action has been initiated nor the concern authorities had booked the culprits so far .On the other hand, the KUTC with the desired for amicably settlement of the case has formally invited the Pradhan and the member of the Khurkhul Gram Panchayat on February 3 for a joint meeting at Kangpokpi..

But no positive responds had comeforth.

The JAC wondered why the good will gesture of the KUTC was turned down by the Panchayat before the matter has drifted to another direction," lamented the JAC.

The JAC while strongly condemning the killing incident has questioned whether a person can be hacked to death or meted out all forms of brutality without trials conducted for a petty theft case.

Failure from the state government side to fulfil its demands over the killing of Letkhongam Khongsai, the JAC said that after February 14, anything can happen and the state government should be held full responsibility for the untoward incidents occurred.
