Cloth merchant poisoned to death

Imphal, October 21 2009: A man who went for collecting money for selling cloth died at the hospital yesterday evening after he was allegedly administering poison.

The deceased man has been identified as Ningthoujam Nabachandra (34), son of N Mani of Khangabok part-III Chirapur Leikai.

He stayed at the house of his wife's parental house.

They have two children.

He did the work of selling clothes from place to place.

He went out from home saying that he is going to collect money for selling cloths yesterday evening at about 5 pm.

Family and locals alleged that he was beaten up by some youths and snatched money before he was force to administer some poisonous substance.

Family came to know it when some residents of Keibi informed them.

He died at JN Hospital where he was brought up in unconscious state.

In connection with the incident Lamlai police has registered a case.

The dead body has also been deposited at RIMS morgue.

In another unrelated incident, a labourer engaging in the construction of the TB Hospital at Keirao Wangkhem under Irilbung police station found hang to dead at a room of the under construction building.

He has been identified as Soibam Ashokumar (45) son of late S Chandramani of Thoubal Achouba.

He stayed alone at the workers' makeshift camp after all other labourers left the place in connection with Ningolchakkouba.

Today morning, he was found death by hanging with binding wire from a window at room 19 of one of the hospital block.

Family has taken the dead body after postmortem at RIMS morgue today.
