Imphal, November 18 2008: THE BANNED United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has described the killing of junior sub-editor of Imphal Free Press, namely Konsam Rishikanta by some unknown persons at Langol yesterday as an inhuman and barbaric act.

Ksh Yoiheiba, Senior Publicity Officer, Department of Publicity, UNLF today stated in a press release that the killing of Rishikanta would surely be a part of the state terrorism in an attempt to gag the media and suppress the might of the people.

The journalists, without fear for their lives, are exposing the extra judicial killings and fake encounters in which the IOFs were killing innocent persons daily.

The UNLF strongly condemns killing of such a journalist who was contributing his mite to the society and the sensible people of the region ought to condemn the killing, Yoiheiba asserted.

The party expressed heart-felt sorrow at the killing of an upcoming young journalist of Imphal Free Press, and also shared the grief of the family, the press release stated.
