Krishnadas murder case: Nando re-arrested

Imphal, June 17 2009: Thokchom nando, son of Th Subol of Khangabok Part-III Lamlong Bazar in Thoubal district, who gained notoriety after his arrest by police in connection with the abduction and subsequent merciless murder of little girl Lungnila Elizabeth in November, 2003 and has since been cooling his heels behind the bars, was produced before the Sessions Judge, Manipur East and then re-arrested today with the permission of the court in connection with the case of murder of Yengkhom Krishnadas.

While praying before the court to allow police to remand Nando in their custody, police said that they have found enough evidences that implicate Nando as mainly involved in the case of kidnap and subsequent killing of special contractor Krishnadas.

Therefore it is very much necessary for the police to remand him in their custody to facilitate further investigation to find out the real murderers and those involved in the plot to kidnap and kill Krishnadas, police prayed.

Since the Sessions Judge, Manipur East, Th Surbala is at present on leave, police submitted the petition to Additional Sessions Judge, In-charge, Manipur East, M Padmeshore.

After considering the petition, thecourt allowed police to re-arrested Thokchom Nando who is in Sajiwa Central Jail, Police pointed out in their petition that Thokchom Nando is the mastermind who directed the whole plot from his mobile phone inside the jail to kidnap and kill Y Krishnadas.

As a proof, police had recovered one mobile handset and three sim cards, two of which had been damaged a little as he bit them in order to damage them completely.

Since he is the main accused in the case, police requested for permission to re-arrest him.

Having received permission from the court, two teams of Imphal West district police commando led by two Sub-Inspectors came to Sajiwa Central Jail around 3.15 p.m.Investigating Officer, S Ibomcha showed the copy of the permission to the jail authority and intimated them that Nando would be formally arrested.

Meanwhile, a copy of the same permission was also despatched from the court to the jail authority.

However, as it was time for the inmates to have dinner, IO Ibomcha and the commando teams had to wait a while.

After dinner, Nando was brought out of the Jail at exactly at 4.30 pm and put into the Gypsy of the IO and drove away.

Press reporters were not allowed to take photograph of Nando being taken away as a jail official said that since jail is a protected area, no camera is allowed.

He will be produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal and pray the court for further remand in police custody.
