Imphal, March 14, 2010: Advocate General Nongmeikappam Koteshwor, who had been undergoing treatment of bullet wounds at Shija Hospital, has been flown to New Delhi today for further treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Accompanied by his wife and mother, Koteshwor left for the national capital on an indian Airlines flight this afternoon.

Shortly after his departure, Works Minister K Ranjit, Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii, Sports Minister N Biren along with MLAs Bijoy Koijam and W Brajabidhu left Imphal on a Jet Airways flight.

Mention may be made that the Advocate General suffered bullet wounds on the upper body parts in an accidental firing by the Works Minister on March 6 evening while travelling together along the Imphal-Ukhrul road.

Koteshwor, Ranjit and DD Thaisii were in Ranjit's vehicle while returning from Hunphung of Ukhrul district after attending a social programme.

The accidental firing incident had sparked off strong protest from the AG's locals as well as from the lawyers.

Moreover, police have registered a case on the matter apart from recording statements of the two Ministers.
