Kakching, January 11 2009: A COMBINED force of Thoubal district police commando and 21 AR today killed a suspected underground activist near Angan Cheeng, Eco Park in the jurisdiction of Kakching Police Station.

The combined force recovered a China-made Norinco 9mm pistol along with a magazine containing five live rounds and two empty cartridges.

According to police sources, the combined force received an information about some un-identified insurgents moving about on the road between Kakching and Tezpur around 10.30 am today.

Two teams of the combined force rushed to the spot from both sides of Kakching and Tezpur whereupon they came across two youths.

On being ordered to stop, the two youths opened fire upon the force and tried to escape.

The force retaliated and killed one of them and the other one escaped.
