Imphal, March 09, 2010: The overnight offensive launched against PLA cadres at Ringpham and its surrounding areas by troops of Assam Rifles concluded today even as the postmortem to the dead body of an AR personnel in the gunfight performed today.

The postmortem to the dead body of the AR personnel killed in the gunfight with PLA cadres at Ringpham village yesterday identified as Joseph Rongthang Puya (30) son of L Lungmuana was conducted today at RIMS morgue.

Joseph was a resident of Mizoram.

He served the AR under rifleman no.G-5013799.The dead body will take to his native village by air tomorrow.

On the other hand, troops of 15 Assam Rifles conducting night-long cordon operation at Ringpham and its surrounding villages after the PLA cadres laid ambushed had retreated from the area after completing the operation today morning.

Mention may be made here that with reinforcement, troops of Assam Rifles conducted cordon search operation in the area including the hilly terrain in the aftermath of the ambush that killed one personnel and injuring to another one.

Local source said that AR retreated from the area today morning.

There were no reports of rounding of PLA cadre or suspects during the cordon operations.Villagers also returned home today, the report added.
