Imphal, March 02 2009: Asserting that the incidents of killings non-Manipuri workers for the last ten/twenty years as unfortunate happenings, the Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Manipur has appealed all sections of the society to stand as one in the face of this development.

In a press statement signed by the HMS secretary, Premjit Sharma for its president, Manihar Goswami said that it is unfortunate to kill non-Manipuri labourers who mostly constituted the workers'population of the state as barbers, cobblers, carpenters, etc.

Saying that the non-Manipuris need not be chased back, the statement said that they will leave on their own as soon as Manipuris are able to replace them in their works.

While saying that the occasion will come automatically for the use of the terms, son of the soil,'it said that the sporadic killings of migrant labourers will be even detrimental for Manipuri students who are outside the state in pursuance of their educations.

It said it will be very unfortunate if smaller communities in states like UP, Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, etc begin to feel like what has been going on here.

It further said that the time has come for all sections of the people to put the thinking cap together and to stand against the happenings as one.
