Boy found brutally murdered

Imphal, January 02 2008: IN A gruesome incident, a 14 year-old boy, studying in Class VII, was found brutally murdered atop the Langdum hill about 5 kms south of Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East this morning.

The murdered boy has been identified as Md Wahidur Rahman @ Naocha (14), son of Md Maheruddin and Noorjahan Begum, residing at Keirao Litan Makhong.

He was the only son among three children of his parents, and was studying in Class VII at Irilbung High School.

According to family members, yesterday around 6.30 in the morning, he went away with some of his local friends to cut firewood at the Langdum hill.

After cutting firewoods, he told his friends that he was exhausted and to tell his mother to come to receive him, and stayed back sitting on the hill.

When his friends reached home and told his mother Noorjahan what Wahidur @ Naocha said, his mother went to the hill in search of him around 3 pm.

But when she reached the hill, her son was no where to be seen, she found only the matchet, the bundle of firewood and his turban cloth.

Then she returned home.

This morning, the village organised a mass search and found the dead body of Rahman at about 10 am in a preserved jungle area.

The body was half nude and had injury marks on his private parts.

Besides, his hands were bound behind his back and his feet were also bound with his own belt, local sources said.

A piece of stick was also found pushed down his throat adding to speculations that Rahman was mercilessly tortured before killing him.

In protest against the brutal murder of the boy, the local people organised a meeting at Keirao Litan Makhong ground at about 2 pm today.

The meeting decided to form a JAC against the killing of Md Wahidur Rahaman @ Naocha, to demand Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia from the government and untill the police booked the the murderer/murderers, the body will not be taken hom.

The JAC also questioned the motive behind the killing.

The Irilbung police have registered a case and the dead body has been deposited at the RIMS morgue.
