Imphal, June 01 2009: With more protests coming in against the arrest of student leaders in connection with the murder of Prof.MD.Islamuddin, proctor and dean of student's welfare, economic department of the Manipur University (MU), the students of HRD School and Herbert School of Ghari in Imphal West organized a sit-in-protest Monday condemning the arrest of the student leaders.

The students protesting at Sega Road in Imphal West district of Manipur asserted students and their leaders are not looked upon as undergrounds or militants.

While condemning the act of student leaders being arrested, the students also called for an education free zone.

They further called on the concerns not to create fear psychosis in the minds of the students rather help in maintaining a conducive academic atmosphere.

The placards they held displayed the same.

Besides, the students from one of the best educational institutions in the state also warned they would continue with their protest if the arrested student leaders were not released.

Meanwhile the police had warned the school authorities against allowing their students or organizing protest demonstrations such as sit-in-protest or taking out rallies against the arrest of some student leaders in connection to the assassination of Prof Islamuddin.
