Imphal, December 27 2009: A suspected underground activist was killed by a combined force of Imphal east police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles this evening at around 6.50 pm at Irilbung Kalika under Irilbung police station.

Police said that the suspect was killed when the combined on their routine patrolling returned to the firing initiated by some suspected undergrounds.

In the retaliatory action of the combined force, one of the armed undergrounds killed while others managed to escape.

From the slain suspect, a 9 mm pistol, a hand grenade and a mobile handset recovered.

The dead body has been retrieved from the spot by Irilbung police and kept at RIMS morgue for official identification.
