Imphal, December 20 2008: Four suspected UG cadres have been slain in two separate shoot-outs with security forces today.

The first incident took place at Ishikha Chingjin near Yumnam Patlou in Imphal East district at about 7.40 pm today.

According to police sources, an encounter ensued when a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 23 AR, acting on specific information about movement of UG cadres in Ishikha area, moved in there.

Police recovered one 9 mm pistol and two hand grenades from the slain individuals.

Police have picked up the corpses and deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification.

The second occured at Sekmai Nongthonbam under Sekmai police station at about 8.45 pm.

In the reported shoot-out with Imphal West commandos, two other UG suspects were also killed.

One sten carbine, five live rounds and a Chinese made hand grenade have been recovered from them, added the police source.

All the bodies have been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
