Imphal, January 17 2009: One personnel of 5th Bn MR on guard duty sustained injuries when unidentified persons attacked the Uripok Gopalji Leirak residence of PWD EE Irengbam Loken today.

Unidentified persons hurled a grenade at about 6.45 pm.

The grenade exploded inside the residential gate of the Imphal West Division EE, informed a police source.

MR personnel Kamsei Kuki (28) s/o Paokholun of Leimakhong on guard duty at the gate was injured in the attack.

Dust particles also affected his eyes.

He was treated at RIMS. On the other hand, family members of the EE said that there was no monetary demand from any group.

On the other hand, one hand grenade was found at the Singjamei Oinam Thingel residence of Agriculture Officer Akoijam Bhimochand alias Chittaranjan at about 7.24 tonight.

The grenade was set off safely by explosives experts of Manipur Police at an isolated place at about 8 pm.
