Imphal, Aug 14 2009:President of the Bodo Women's Justice Forum has demanded The three MLAs of Ukhrul district have lodged a complaint to the Chief Minister with regard to the prohibition on entry of representatives of civil organisations and social workers in Shakok village where AR troops and NSCN (IM) cadres were engaged in an encounter resulting in deaths and injuries.

Independent MLAs of the district, Wungnaoshang Keishing, Dr Khasim Ruivah and Danny Shaiza called on the Chief Minister and apprised him about the difficulties being endured by the villagers of Shakok at present.

They also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

Talking to The Sangai Express later, MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing observed that prevention of social workers and representatives of social organisations and NGOs from visiting Shakok in the aftermath of the encounter by AR aroused suspicion.

The failure of the Ukhrul DC and the SP to pay a visit to the place of incident is not a sign of good administration.

Saying that they have heard about the local people's intention to destroy AR camp of Shangshak, Wungnaoshang cautioned that it would entail huge casualties if such report is true.

But all efforts to apprise the Chief Minister about this report through telephone proved futile, he lamented.
