Imphal, August 09 2009: In the midst of curfew prohibiting people moving out from their respective houses, miscreants shot at and injured a non-local and another local youth sustained injury when a hand grenade exploded in a separate incident tonight.

The shooting of a non-local man took place around 9.15 pm at Tharon Kabui village, Chingmeirong under Lamphel police station in Imphal west district.

The non-local who sustained bullet injury in the left thigh was identified as Gagan (30), son of Bahadur.

He hails from Natawa district of Bihar and currently staying at Tharon Kabui village.

He has been evacuated at RIMS.

His condition was stated to be stable and out of danger.

A bomb triggered by miscreants at the residence of director of the tribal development department, Solomon Zingkhai at Nagaram tonight at around 6.40 pm.

His private driver sustained injury by the splinters of the bomb at exploded at the front courtyard of the directors' house.

The injured private driver was identified as AS Reishangmi (19) son of AS Samson of Chingjaroi village of Ukhrul district currently residing at the house of the director.

He received splinter injury at right side forehead.

Police evacuated him at RIMS hospital.

Police have registered separate cases with regard to the incidents.
