Imphal, September 24 2009: The Tangkhul Aze Naga Longphang (TNAL) and the Southern Tangkhul Students' Union (STSU) have strongly condemned the killing of church clerk NK Joyson s/o late NK Phongmi of Happyland village and church auditor Venture Shaiza s/o late Simon Shaiza of the same village by some armed unidentified persons at about 6.30 pm yesterday.

A joint statement issued by the two bodies also decried the burning down of village headman Vareso's house and vandalisation of neighbouring L Ngathingkhui's house by the same group of armed persons.

TNAL, STSU and TMNL have also pledged support to the JAC constituted in connection with the killing till the culprits are punished accordingly.

It said that they would join the JAC in launching several forms of agitation in case the Government fails to bring justice in time.

The Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) has also strongly condemned the killing of two persons and burning down a house at Happyland village.

In a press release, the MAFYF demanded that the State Government should book the killers and punish them accordingly at the earliest.

Appealing to all concerned not to commit such killings and arson in Happyland village and surrounding areas, MAFYF also asked the killers to explain the faults of the deceased victims to the public.

It also shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved families as well as woes of the villagers.
