Lamka, February 23, 2010: As the meeting between Chief Minister O Ibobi and representatives of the JAC constituted against the killing of Constable Thomas Kamei failed to arrive at any understanding, the corpse of the deceased cop is still lying in RIMS mortuary.

Members of the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Thomas L Kamei, Langol Laimanai Ramgailong marched towards the Chief Minister's official residence carrying a three-point memorandum this morning.

They were blocked by police in front of Telegraph office.

After a brief altercation between the two sides, a team of JAC representatives along with MPCC president Gaikhangam were allowed to call on the Chief Minister and submit the memorandum.

The JAC representatives and the Chief Minister held a meeting on the former's demands for judicial enquiry, release of the three arrested Ramgailong youngsters, ex-gratia and a suitable job to a family member of the deceased.

But the two sides could not come to any understanding.

Consequent upon the break-down of the negotiation, the JAC has geared up to launch different forms of agitation.

However, it is reported that the three individuals arrested from Ramgailong in connection with the killing of Thomas were freed this afternoon.

�Thomas was absent since Feb 20 morning': Clarifying on the death of Constable Thomas Kamei and injury of Sub-Inspector Sagolsem Suresh in a scuffle occurred in the night of February 21 at North AOC, Imphal West Senior SP L Kailun said.

Thomas Kamei was absent from Imphal Police Station since the morning of February 20.The whereabouts of the Constable was known to the police only when he was found injured in the incident, a press release issued by the SSP said.

Narrating the sequence of the story, L Kailun said, SI Suresh left Imphal PS for home at around 7:30 pm that day.

On his way home, he dropped at North AOC to meet his friends, the SSP said, at around 8:45 pm, two unknown inebriated youths came and misbehaved him when he was having dinner at the hotel of one Sujata.

Saying that the youths did not pay heed to Suresh's request to behave themselves, the SSP said that a scuffle broke out and the SI was injured.

On getting information, a team of Imphal PS rushed to the spot and found SI Suresh sustaining �blunt' injury on his body, he said.

L Kailun further said that Constable Thomas Kamei was also found seriously injured a little away from the spot.

The SSP said that both of them were evacuated to hospital but Constable Thomas succumbed to his injury.

He added that two persons have been rounded up so far in connection with the incident and investigations are going on.
