Imphal, April 20 2009: In protest against the last night's firing attack by unidentified gunmen at the Bashikhong Kongba Irong residence of Biren Yambem who is the general secretary of All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), local residents staged a Wakat Meepham at Kongba Irong Thongkhong today.

Decrying such acts of intimidation, the protestors also urged all concerned to ensure such attacks do not recur.

The unidentified gunmen reportedly opened fire three rounds at the residence of Biren which falls under the jurisdiction of Irilbung Police Station of Imphal East District at around 7 pm yesterday.

Though no one was injured in the attack.
