Imphal, October 19 2009: A youth, who has been alleged of murder of a boy in a brutal manner after snatching his gold earrings, was shot dead by unknown persons today, a day after the bizarre incident occurred.

The bullet riddled dead body of the youth identified as Pukhrambam Mangoljao (22), son of Biren of Kumbi Kangjeibung Mapal, suspected to be involved in the murder of the boy, was found at a spot near a bridge at Khordak village in Bishnupur district this morning.

It is suspected that he was shot dead in the wee hours of today.

A piece of paper on which was written "Angang hatpa eshanani, peeriba dandi eshana yajare (I killed the child myself, I accept the punishment given to me" was found near the dead body.

After post mortem at RIMS morgue, the dead body of the youth has been handed over to the family for his last rites today.

The dead body of the boy, who was allegedly killed by the youth, has also been taken by the family after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

The seven year-old boy, Soram Prabhakar @ Thoi was found murdered in a most brutal manner yesterday evening.

The dead body of the boy was found near a water tank at Kumbi Lai Santhong under Kumbi police station in Bishnupur district.

Since the incident took place, the villagers had conducted a manhunt in and around the village for the killers.

Locals also formed a JAC.

In another incident, a havildar of the 6th IRB posting at Maphou Dam was found dead in the Thoubal river while one of his colleagues, who went out together with him, is still missing.
