Imphal, May 19 2009: Chief Minister's reply that Loitongbam Satish killed by a combined force yesterday evening in an alleged encounter was a PLA activist has greatly angered the residents of Singjamei Oinam Thingel and nearby Leikais.

The residents of these areas have decided to launch an agitation under the banner of the Committee on the Killing of L Satish.

Earlier, irate residents of Singjamei Oinam Thingel where the slain Loitongbam Satish @ Tomba (34), son of L Sharat hailed from blocked the traffic on the Indo-Myanmar road in Singjamei areas from around 9.30 am till 11 am to register strong protest on the killing.

The charge of Satish being a PLA cadre was levelled by the chief minister, O Ibobi during an audience with the representatives of the Committee on the Killing of L Satish.

The representatives submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister pressing for a charter of demands.

Circle MLA, I Hemochandra was also part of the delegation.

The committee was formed today at a public meeting held at Singjamei Oinam Thingel.

Ibobi turned down the demands of the Committee saying that he was a PLA, convener of the Committee, Oinam Nandakishore announced at the public meeting.

He said, they failed to bring an agreement with the CM.

They will now launch further agitation.

With regard to the killing of Satish, his father Loitongbam Sharat said he will never accept killing his son who has no arm in his possession in encounter by depositing weapons.

Timid security forces are telling lie, he added.

The father declared handing over of his son's dead body to the people so that they could take up their own course not to repeat the spree of extra-judicial killing of the security forces in the state.

Now, the shocking incident of killing people after picked up by the security forces happened to his family.

"I don't want such incident to other family," he said.

He went on to say that he did not want to negotiate his son's dead with money and he will abide by the decision taken by the people and committee formed in connection with the killing.

The chief minister is claiming his son as PLA cadre.

Regarding the matter, he wanted a clarification from the outfit concern on how far the charge level to his son is true or not.

Earlier, residents of the Singjamei Oinam Thingel blocked the NH-39 at Singjamei Mayeng Leikai disturbing the traffic along the congested portion of the highway from around 9.30 am till 11 am.

Half of the road was later relaxed blockade later after police and security forces convinced the people.

But the other half was closed to hold a public meeting.

The meeting formed the Committee on the Killing of L Satish apart from resolving other decisions including asking the authority to find out whereabouts of other missing person abducted together with Satish.

Satish went on missing with another person by the name Pebam Gunindro alias Gunen (46) of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai since Saturday last after he was picked allegedly by the security men in civil dress.

Gunindro was later today morning handed over to the Lamlai police by the combined force alleging him as underground member.

A memorandum containing the demands of the people like urging to stop killing people in the name of counter insurgency operation and fake encounter, handing over of missing Gunindro to the family safe and sound.
