Imphal, October 10 2008: One UG suspect was killed in a reported encounter with a combined force of Imphal East commandos and troops of 39 AR at Khurai Heikru Makhong Heingangkhong under Heingang police station at about 6.45 pm today.

According to police sources, two youths were seen riding a motorcycle (Yamaha) when a combined force was driving northward at Heingangkhong.

When the security personnel asked the youths to halt, they turned and opened fire instead resulting in a shoot out.

While the pillion rider was killed in the encounter, the rider managed to escape.

Even as police searched for the Yamaha rider in the surrounding area, it proved futile.

One 9 mm pistol and four live rounds were recovered from the slain UG suspect, informed the source.
