Imphal, April 07 2009: Corpses of the two cousins from Bashikhong shot dead in an encounter with a combined security team will be disposed off according to law in case the they are not claimed within 72 hours, police said.

A press release issued by Lamphel SDPO and IO of the case Pushpanjali said that family members have verbally identified the slain individuals as Nameirakpam Nobo Meitei (27) and Nameirakpam Gobin alias Tamo Meitei (25).The two were killed in an encounter with a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 37 Assan Rifles near Langol Games Village at about 7.45 pm of April 4 .

However, as the family members have not come to claim the corpses till date, the two corpses being kept in RIMS mortuary have decomposed.

As such, the corpses will be disposed off according to law if they are not claimed within 72 hours, added the release.
