Imphal, June 06 2009: Continuing the protest agitation launched with the demand for release of student leaders arrested in connection with the killing of MU Proctor Prof Islamuddin, sit-in-protests were staged today.

While eight students have been released on bail, five students have been booked under NSA.

Demanding release of the arrested leaders, protest sittings were staged at Yourabung, Lamlai-Chalou Keithel, Pureiromba Keithel, Brahmapur Aribam Leikai, Liwa Lambi Ningthoujam Leikai, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi Lamdeng, Nganappithong, Wangjing Wangkhei and Khongjom Keithel.

Students of Ananda Hr Sec School also staged a protest demonstration in front of its gate on the same demand.

Effigy of Chief Minister O Ibobi was also burnt at Lamlai-Chalou Keithel by the protesters.
