Imphal, April 27 2009: The identity of the man shot dead by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry during a reported encounter in the afternoon of April 24 near Tulihal Airport on the road to Ningombam under Singjamei police station has been established.

He was one Khundrakpam Sanayai (36) s/o Shamu of Phumlou Siphai.

According to family members, he was a simple cultivator.

He left home in the morning of April 24 on the invitation of his friend Maisnam Gyanchand of Sagolband Meino Leirak for a talk.

Sanayai left behind his wife and three sons.
