Imphal, October 26 2008: TAKING SERIOUS note of the October 23 incident where a Guwahati bound pasenger bus from Imphal was burnt down by Kuki Liberation Army (KLO/ KLA) at Loharijan in Assam which had claimed two lives, the All Manipur Inter State Bus Association has called a 12 hour Manipur bandh on October 29 .

The bandh will begin from 6 am of the day.

Anouncing this during a joint meeting held on Sunday in Imphal with various civil organizations of Manipur over the October 23 incident, bus association president Budha informed that as a mark of protest the association observe a 'black badge protest'.

The meeting organized by the assocaiation, was participated by All Manipur United Clubs Organization (AMUCO), Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP), Kuki Womens' Union, United People's Front(UPF), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ANM), TIPS, bus owners and drivers.

After a serious discussion and observation the meeting resolved to strongly condemn the incident terming it as one of the most unfortunate cases and a serious violation of human rights.

Further it also resolved to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur on Monday and also re-affirmed the stand taken by the bus association of suspension of bus services indefinitely until full protection is given to the transporters.

During the meeting the driver of the said 'Air Bus Travels' while narrating the incident, said that the Nagaland police remained a silent spectator on the fatefull night when he rushed for help.

The driver revealed that the miscreants set the bus on fire without any warning.

In the morning of the fateful day before leaving Imphal three persons boarded the bus asking them (bus driver and handymen) to pick someone from the last gate of Dimapur.

After the two persons stepped out of the bus on reaching the last gate of Nagaland towards Assam another two persons boarded the bus and then the incident took palce, added the driver.

On the other hand the lifeless bodies of the victims arrived in Imphal this morning.

A service was held at the Rongmei Naga Baptist Association church, Tarung in Imphal.
