Parijat consoles victims' families of two villages

Imphal, September 26 2009: State health and Family Welfare Minister, Ph Parijat today visited Happyland and Chingnungkok villages which had suffered in the recent hostilities between two armed militant organisations, and extended assistance to the suffering villagers.

The Minister was accompanied by former ministers A Aza and AS Arthur and Victor Keishing.

The two villages, Chingnungkok and Happyland are in Ukhrul district but within the Lamlai Assembly Constituency.

These villages are also within the operational area of Lamlai police station of Imphal East district.

The Minister along with his entourage first arrived at Happyland and inspected the house of the village chief burn down by armed miscreants in the September 23 incident which two villagers were abducted and killed later to a place nearby the village.

The visiting team led by the minister also offered floral tributes to the funeral place of the two villagers and took part in the shocks and sorrows of the bereaved families.

Later attended a meeting held at the community hall of the village where villagers recalled the incident of that faithful day to the visiting team.

They said in the aftermath of the incident, villagers had left their homestead fear of re-visit of the armed militants.

They further informed that after forming a JAC of the two villages, they are efforting to maintained peace and harmony among the villagers.

A meeting will also be held tomorrow, they said.

Wife of the village chief said that in the setting blaze of her house all belongings including rice and other eatables had been turned into ash.

Her husband also left the village fear of armed undergrounds and his whereabouts is not known.

She requested the ministers and public leaders present in the meeting to make return of the peace in the village.

The minister team then went to Chingnungkok village and heard the grievances of the villagers there in which villagers in turned lodged complaints on the woes facing by them in the aftermath of the incidents.

They also informed the team that in contradict to the expectation of relieving the fear of villagers when Assam Rifles arrived there but add another fear.

As such they are taking shelter in the nearby Telou Chana village.

The incidents has leave fear and panic among the villagers of two villages, they said requesting the team to provide security for them and relief them from fear.

Speaking to the villagers of both the villages, Parijat strongly condemned the merciless killing of people.

The incident of merciless killing in the state is caused by those animal minded people among the people.

People should ask them not to live among the people.

Expressing that more than 30 insurgent outfits are operating in the state, the minister said it is unfortunate thing for the people.

The only was to gain peace in the land is people stay away from them, he added.

He also strongly condemned the armed underground indulging in the acts which could breach harmony among the different communities.

People should take care of them.

He also appealed the people to take a concrete decision assuring that he would relate the woe and suffering of the people to the chief minister also and extend assistant to the villagers.

Before extending help from the government, he is giving Rs 5000 each to the families of two victims of Happyland and another Rs 5000 to the chief of the village whose house had been burnt down from the CPI Lamlai Local Council, he said.

He also gave five quintals of rice to the villagers who had displaced themselves owing to the fear.

The same assistants were also given to the victims families of Chingnungkhok village and villagers.

Further, commenting on the ongoing agitation of the Apunba Lup, Parijat said there is no reason for continuing prolongs agitation demanding resignation of chief minister.

Such type of agitation prolong agitations has not seen in other part of the state.

He further said people should try to promote right to education and right to life and killing will not bring solution to any problems.
