Imphal, March 26 2009: Out of the two alleged UG suspects shot dead by combined forces in separate incidents of encounter that took place in different parts of Bishnupur district last night who were identified today, one of them has been claimed to be an innocent National player of football.

According to family members of Thoudam Goro (35) of Toubul Awang Mamang Leikai who was killed by a combined force of Bishnupur Police Commandos, 4//8 GR and 23 Assam Rifles at Chini Ingkhol at around 5 pm yesterday, he was an innocent National player of football.

After playing for various football clubs of the State, Goro was working as a coach.

Goro was also looking after three children, two left behind by his departed elder brother and another left behind by his departed younger brother.

The family members claimed that Goro had been picked up by some suspected Police Commandos who came together with two wearing Phaneks in an Autorickshaw from near his house yesterday afternoon.

The family members have taken the body after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.

On the other hand, the other UG suspect who was killed a combined force of Bishnupur Police Commandos and personnel of 12 Maratha Light Infantry during an encounter at Nambol Phoijing Chingning at around 8.45 pm yesterday has been identified as Achom Boy alias Jayanta (30) s/o late Romi of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai.

It is said that Boy was a former PREPAK cadre who had been staying at home for the last three months after coming out from jail.
