President of the PSO, Md Zakir Hussain told reporters that Prof Islamuddin, despite whatever faults that he might have had, was the only teacher belonging to Meetei Pangal community in the university.

The brutal killing of the Professor inside the MU campus itself has indescribably pained the hearts of the Meetei Pangal community.

The organisation considers the incident as against the mankind.

Until clues on the murder are found by the authority, all activities of the Manipur University will be indefinitely closed down, Zakir Hussain said.

He also demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing and appealed to the people to fully support the general strike.

In the meanwhile, president in-charge of MUSU, Thangal Yumnamcha told reporters at the Students' Home this evening that MUSU strongly condemns the incident of killing Prof Islamuddin and appealed to all concerned not to repeat such incident ever again in future.

The MUSU will organise a 12-hr state wide general strike from 6 am till 6 pm tomorrow.

The MUSU will also protest the incident by wearing black badge from May 27 onwards for one week.

On the other hand, the second semester examination of Anthropology going on currently will be postpoed indefinitely.
