Imphal, June 15 2009: The United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly condemned the killings of non-locals by unidentified gunmen in the State of Manipur and appealed the Government of the State to look into the needs of the lives of the innocent civilians.

The UNC while strongly condemning the recent spat of killings of non-locals in the State by armed miscreants asserted it was opposed to all forms of violence especially killings of innocent people.

The Naga body appealed those involved in such crime to stop it immediately for the sake of peace and humanity.

The UNC also appealed the Ibobi Singh led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Government of the State to protect the lives of the innocent civilians and also make them feel at home by providing with the day-to-day needs until normalcy returns.

Expressing further concern, the UNC also strongly urged the State Government to deal with the situation before it got out of control.
