Imphal, December 12 2008: The three suspected UGs who were shot dead by security forces during encounters in two difference places of Thoubal district yesterday have been identified today.

The UG suspect who was shot dead by Thoubal Police Commandos in the encounter which took place near Heirok Gate has been identified as Potsangbam Basanta (40) s/o Yaima of Wangoo Tera.

The post-mortem of the body was conducted at Lilong PHC today.

On the other hand, though the identities of the two UG suspects shot dead by a combined force of 34 Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos during the encounter which broke at Yerumching within minutes of the first encounter have been identified as Md Islamuddin (20) s/o Kamaruddin of Yairipok Changamdabi and Md Rahimuddin (18) s/o Jalaluddin of Yairipok Heitroipokpi, their family members have refused to take back the bodies claiming them to be innocent.
