Imphal, January 12 2009: A BOMB exploded at Bheigo Hotel which is located at Wahengbam Leikai in Imphal West at around 5 pm on Monday.

Reports said that at the time of explosion tourists and businesspersons from the states of Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and even from West Bengal were lodging in the hotel.

Though no persons were hurt in the explosion, the blast damaged two two-wheelers and the window panes of the hotel.

Suspecting a possible attack by persons in connection with monetary demands, proprietor of the hotel, Moirangthem Thoiba informed that he had been having a series of telephonic conversations with the unknown persons who also refused to identify themselves over monetary demands.

With tourists and businesspersons from different states lodging in the hotel, the proprietor stated that such acts could scare the visitors and appealed for an end to such act.

The concerned police station has registered a case in this regard and even informed that the bomb used in the attack was a Chinese hand grenade.
