UKLA (MC) decries killing

Imphal, November 29 2009: United Kuki Liberation Army (Military Council) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of former chief of Thayong village Rejamkhup alias Akhup Kom by unidentified armed persons suspected to cadres of a Kuki-based UG group which is a signatory of SoO with the Govt.Akhup Kom was reportedly shot dead in front of his own wife near the gate of their house in the night of October 25 .

In a statement, information and publicity secretary of UKLA (MC) Jameson Kuki observed that whatever may be the reason, killing of civilian, that too, a well known member of a community, is not within the justifiable limit.''Killing of our people in such manners is against the revolutionary principle and if any group goes on killing people like this, then they are anti-people with no proper principle and they will have no place in the society'', Jameson said.

Furthermore, clarifying on the killing of two of its cadres on October 7 last at Gangpimoul in Churachandpur by troops of Assam Rifles under the leadership of one major, Jameson asserted that the killing was the 'devilish plan' of the major to clear his name over a case involving his girl friend and another man.
